For those of you asking how someone can leave a vm on your phone without making it ring, Lu answers this question if you go back to page 2 and read the comments there. According to Lu, an app called SlyDial lets you leave a message without ringing the phone -which would be fine if it were from a friend, but it's creepy from a telemarketer/scammer!
www.slydial.com if you want to read more about them
More importantly, I wanted to know if there was a way to block unwanted people from using SlyDial to leave messages again ... I'm on Verizon, so I'm pasting what they had to say about SlyDial below... Hope this helps!

"Verizon Wireless Customer Support

"Hello KCMO2. That definitely is a phishing scam site, so good eye and judgement in not visiting that site. With regards to a possible block this may work: if your phone allows you to block a contact from your phonebook, create a contact for Slydial using this number - 267-Sly-Dial (267-759-3425)
This may work, and is worth a shot.
Keep us posted if you get any others, or if this helps.
Not sure how they left a message without my cell ringing 1st., I'll have to ask Verizon about that. Same as others, says he's following up on info to keep us from having to pay penalty for "Obama care". They can take Ovomit care & stuff it!
"Charles" claiming to be from my "neighborhood Obamacare center" (the real Affordable Health Care people don't call it that) wanted to make sure I had no problems with taxes. He said to call back on 888-575-1448.
Charles left a msg with lots of "Uuumms and ahhhs...."like he misplaced his script...He said he had my number on his desk to "give me a call" as if I called and left him a msg?! He gave a "registration number" that sounded like he made it up. He asked for a call back to "go over a few things" with me to "get" me set up...to "so you don't have any tax implicatons..." and a direct # of 888-575-1448. FIRST-He called it Obama Care?!?! Really??! It's The Affordable Care Act, and "Obama care" is a nick name at best, duh?! SECOND-He never mentioned my name after implying he was calling a specific person. Total scam. AND the call back number also has folks leaving posts very similar to these.
