This person has contacted me twice from different phone numbers. He will call and text you.Once he tried to say that I have applied for a loan and was approved, and once to say I was going to be arrested for check fraud. He is rude and pushy and he emails from a gmail account: I have opened several cases and reported him to the Utah general Attorney. Don't engage with him just report him.
This guy just ask my name than said he had an arrest warrant for me and than ask me if I would like to know the details. I said , sure! He then told me just never mind but prepare to be arrested! What a scam artist. So I researched the number and ended up here on this site. I called the number back and he answered saying, Sheriff's Dept. Gary Thompson. These people need to be put away. He has a strong India Accent. He did say he was in New York.
Legitimate process servers do not call to warn you, or to get money from you to stop the process. They will deliver the notification without warning.

This guy called before, said I owed for a deliquent payday check. He was from the collection department of NY sheriffs department and would have me arrested for federal check fraud. I couldn't prove he was a scammer then, so I did pay him. Indian accent, using the name of Sheriff Gary Thompson, should have been my first clue. I feel so stupid! Next, only payment method was "green dot " card. Now about 3 days ago, I get another call from same number, this time he says his name is Jack Smith. Really! Tells me its another payday company collection and he is willing to work with me. I had gone back the first time and checked with the only companies I have used in the last 4 years. All paid in full, with complete payment dates! Today he is harrassing me, 22 phone calls! Called New York, Nassau County Sheriff and talked to a REAL officer! She suggested checking the phone number on Google. That brought me to this site! This guy is good!
