This person has contacted me twice from different phone numbers. He will call and text you.Once he tried to say that I have applied for a loan and was approved, and once to say I was going to be arrested for check fraud. He is rude and pushy and he emails from a gmail account: I have opened several cases and reported him to the Utah general Attorney. Don't engage with him just report him.
I keep receiving calls from this number at my job. The person left a name of Gary Thompson. I don't know how they got my work number because I don't give it to anyone. I am only a seasonal employee where I work. I did the reverse number lookup on the number and found that it's a "Fake Debt Collector from NY Sheriffs Dept." They didn't say where they were from when they call.
Left message on voice mail that he was with some County Sherrifs department and I was about to be arrested by the local sheriffs dept if I didn't pay some bill. The giveaway, he said "may god bless your day."
I also got a call from 347-377-7616 WASN'T PRETTY. The guy told me he was from the New York sherff dept. Never understood his name but very heavy accent forign like from India. Got the same spill about a warrent my arrest could take care of it on a green dot moneypak. And needless to say it was ON. I told him to let me speak to soneone who spoke plain english, and no I would not sent him any money on a green dot moneypak card that he was a scammer. HE proceessed to tell me to suck his _____ and everything under the sun. THE more he cursed the louder he got and the more I would laugh. He was so enraged. These pple. are from the New York Bronx Brooklyn Statin Island area. At one point they had another scam. LOANS OF AMERICA LOANS FOR AMERICA LOAN AMERICA ETC. PHONE #'s 347-380-99002 or 347-380-9901. They got me for 900.00 dollars. This man went by Mike Williams then. I would know that voice anywhere. You can rreport these pple. all you want and nothing will ever be done. Your local pd. and sd. for sure will do nothing and our government does not care. They all just rotate on their thumbs. So niw when they call me I just _____ with them. Do not by any means send them any money. This a scam scam scam!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO, these people are NOT from New York, they use spoofed numbers, and are ACTUALLY calling as they ride camels through the dirt streets of the backward countries of Asia and the Middle East.

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
