He is still at it, said his name was Ricky. Just received a call with exactly the same issue and exactly the same claim purporting to represent Microsoft Support Services. I dumped his call twice and he even called back a third time. I did advise him that since I would be shut down within 30 minutes and would never again be able to access the internet that he call me back in 60 minutes and we could continue the discussion - surprise, surprise no call back and no internet lifetime block.
Just had a second call from these same scam operators about 5 hours after I received the first call, this time the guys name was 'Ricky'. Unfortunately Dell and many other large companies have other countries (i.e. India) handling their calls and these countries offer no security protection to customers in North America.
The thing is folks is not one of the computer companies will "Initiate" a call....it has to come from you. Anything else is plain and simple a SCAM call. Don't believe anything these dweebs try to convince you of.
Got a call from that number, it was a certain Gis Si from the Windows service departement, he new my CLSID number and my name...Said someone was using my ID to do criminal activities... I became very suspicious when he asked me to download stuff from internet (http://mwgs.webs.com/).
Well they are still out there and going strong. They are still using the same line about massive threats to the computer, just told them no problem I'll just reformat and reload the hard drive. The fellow who called here has a very strong East Indian accent.
I don't kown anything about computers and now I have a dead computer and asking for a password that the Indian man name Daddy Jones wants a ME too pay $199 to get it back up. Can anyone help? I have to do online classes. RRRRRRRRR lost everything
