Just got a call from "Jason" asking me questions about what insurance I have if I have any DUIs, I told him what is the purpose of your call? He said he works with insurance companies in NYC that matches insurances with customers for best rates . I told him I have insurance and I'm not interested . F out of here with that BS. SCAM! He's lucky I didn't curse him out like I usually do to them.
Well I hate to break it to you, but there is no "nationwide caller block" . There is a list called the Do Not Call Registry which lists your number so that legitimate (note the important word) telemarketers (defined as someone selling things) do no call you. It does not cover debt collectors (they have their own law), political calls, charities, surveys, or informative calls. It also does not cover criminals since they have a bad habit of not obeying any law (that would be both foreign and domestic criminals).
These guys want to give you "free information about solar energy". So here is what you do - take the call. Then, play with them a bit, make up whatever BS story you want, and try to keep them on the phone as long as you can. Cheap revenge, when you have a moment. Or, just answer their questions, and say your electric bill is $25/month. They ask "how can this be?" "I live in an RV". Enjoy, and have some fun.
