Won't work. Caller ID is like the return address on an envelope. They can put any number there they want. See spoofcard.com for a commercial service that does this.
There have been a lot of calls offering "free" alarm systems in our community lately. It's the same message, but the caller ID is different every time.
And legislation? Where are you going to get the millions of dollars for lobbyists and campaign donations? That's what the industry spent to make sure the legislation we have is toothless, and that there's only a pittance in the budget for enforcement. Classic case of best regulation money can buy.
Yeah, funny thing, I left a Yahoo! comment on the George Zimmerman case story. My comment amounted to my neighborhood has it's own Zimmerman (not that it's a good or bad thing). Our "Zimmerman" posts on FB about following other neighbors who he deems suspcision and he belongs to a "neighborhood watch" program. Oddly, next day (today) I get this number (347-775-2688) calling me that say's "neighbor watch." Coincidence? Some idiot replied to my post "I hope someone breaks into your house and steals all your stuff!"
So now I'm left wondering if posting through Yahoo! allows hackers to find your name and phone number. Another ba$RAd left a reply on another message calling me by my full name and mentioning my daughter. I only have a "moniker" and not my real full name on Yahoo!
So what's really going on? Honest people seem to be getting tapped and searched and held at huge lengths to privacy and other rules, all while those same phone and internet companies are selling our names to the NSA and somehow making it easy for criminals to find our exact identities, phone numbers, and addresses?
Phone just range and said neighborhood Watch I'm in Philadelphia, please don't these people have better things to do. I know people need jobs but please. Thank god for caller ID. I don't know you I don't answer. You can't leave a message I was not that important.
Well, two more new numbers have called today. This was one of them. When I see a number (if one shows) I just let it ring out. They keep calling even knowing that I will not answer. They are not dumb enough NOT to know that a lot of us have Caller ID. We just have to endure the ringing. Where is OUR GOVERNMENT??
Same as many above. Caller ID said "Neighbor Watch". I didn't answer it and they left nothing on my answering machine. Does make me wonder if it is someone just trying to check out when people are home.
