Won't work. Caller ID is like the return address on an envelope. They can put any number there they want. See spoofcard.com for a commercial service that does this.
There have been a lot of calls offering "free" alarm systems in our community lately. It's the same message, but the caller ID is different every time.
And legislation? Where are you going to get the millions of dollars for lobbyists and campaign donations? That's what the industry spent to make sure the legislation we have is toothless, and that there's only a pittance in the budget for enforcement. Classic case of best regulation money can buy.
They just called here in Arizona. I no longer answer anytime I don't recognize the number or it is displayed as restricted or unknown. If someone I don't know really needs to to reach me, they can leave a voice mail and maybe I'll call them back.
Do Not Call was a nice idea, but it's a joke these days. Many calls originate outside of the US and use spoofed phone numbers for faking out the caller ID system.
Yeah, wouldn't it be nice if the phone companies would do something to help stop this crap? Hey, perhaps we should let the NSA handle it.
Too bad there isn't someone protecting us from these bogus scam calls! Have had thousands of such calls ... and have been blocking as many numbers as possible for quite some time. Am soooo tired of getting calls from criminals......
