Did not answer call no message left.
Notified 311 and NY State Att General.
NYPD will never call to solicit funds.
Also police officers are forbidden to
make calls for money. Yes even retired
Officers like me would be guilty of
"Criminal impersonation".
Caller said he was a paid fundraiser for the New York Police Chiefs' Foundation. Asked if I would commit to making a donation when they send me a package. I said I don't make commitments over the phone and he said he understood, then just hung up. (I guess I won't be receiving a donation packet!) Another time someone representing the same organization (sounded like same person) called on a different number and I said that I already support the police through payment of my taxes. DON'T FALL FOR THIS SCAM.
New York on the caller ID - I didn't answer but called back on my cell and "the wireless customer is not available" and something about "message ny2L" - Typical phone scammer so I blocked the number. We're going to get rid of our land line - we only get one or two of these calls a week but it's annoying that the system allows even that number.
This number is callling me more and more. First it was every few days, now it's twice a night. The person on the other end says he's Mike and is collecting for a police charity. I'll never give this annoying scammer a dime, but now I'm going to contact the NY State Attorney General's Office about him & that number.
