I picked up to a recorded message saying they are the IRS, have been trying to reach me, are filing a law-suite against me, and that I should call back at [same number]. Quite a scary message, delivered in a very official-sounding recording. When I call back I get only a fast busy tone. I tried searching IRS phone numbers online, but haven't come up with this number. Does anyone know whether this is real or not? THanks!

I got this same call on my home phone, called number on office phone, and some foreign-sounding guy says "tank you for calling de IRS, how can I hep you?"
When I replied "yeah, I just got a call from you guys" the line cut off, I called back and busy, I called back and it ran a dozen times...while I expect poor response from government offices, I don't think this is legit.
They called and left message that they are IRS and I'm being sued and to call back same number. I'm smart enough to know that it is a scam but I feel bad for some of the more vulnerable people who belive this stuff and wish that the autorities could put a stop to this!
