What To Do When You Get an Illegal Robocall; http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/robocalls
1. Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list.
2. Consider blocking the number
3. Report it at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
4. Report it at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
Register your phone numbers online at http://www.donotcall.gov or call (888) 382-1222 (must call from # you want removed).
When I receive a call from a new number I put it in my contacts list under Scum Suckers and assign it NO ring tone so at least after the first call they don't bother me anymore (I have filled all of the numbers in each and am up to Scum Sucker 47 now). Some phone companies will allow you to block a limited amount of numbers, however this is only a whack-a-mole solution but the only one I can offer.
I received a call from this number on my cellphone. I declined the call. Then I called back the number. I received a recorded message offering me to opt out of further calls "according to FCC Rules." It required that I confirm the calling number and then to confirm my phone number. Yeah, right. Everyone knows it is to confirm live numbers for more telemarketing calls.
I received an identical call yesterday. It was a recorded message telling me I could lower the interest rate on my credit car. Just press #1 and the call would be directed to the person who could do this.
Called at 12:24pm on Sun Oct 15, 2012. No message. Based on this awesome site and all the comments on it, I am filing a complaint against them: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints.
