Caller immediately hung up when I answered. I called the number from my cell phone, and it immediately went to a voice mail message that said, "Thank you for calling back." If you are not interested in our promotions and wish to be put on our 'do-not-call list', please press 1 now..."
I never oblige these message requests with a response. I want them to think that I dialed a wrong number, thus not confirming their initial call to me. That would give them both my cell# and my landline# that they originally called.
Simple solution that often works… get a digital recorder, call any fax number, record the computer trying to connect to you. When the scammers call you again, answer the phone and play the recording. Most computer calling programs are designed to delete fax machines from the call list. I keep a recorded fax by the phone all the time, great for getting rid of many pests work by phone.
Random calls many times each week from random numbers, no message, caller ID shows bank card services, bank card, card services, alerts, you get the picture.
meant to trick you into picking up your phone - ignore the calls and never answer. they are not interested in removing you from their list or any other nonsense they might say. They want your credit card number, social security number and anything else that enables them to steal your identity.
Tired of all this b.s. from telemarketing companies. Leave us alone if we are on the Nat'l Do Not Call List although this does not work. Reporting it doesn't seem to help or telling them, if you actually get a voice, doesn't work and the automated system calls are the worst because you can't reach anyone when you call the # back. The only solution: Remove your land line so this nonsense stops or just don't answer the phone unless you know who is calling. It is super annoying either way.
There is not a news organization or local/national newspaper that hasn't warned about this scam, and sadly, everyday people still fall for it. Hence why we all continue to get the calls.
They are criminals. You will continue to get the calls. Just beware and warn others. The calls will die down and will pick back up.
Card Services making their daily call(s) on 02/11/2014 @ 12:52 PM from Arlington, WA. Caller ID shows Marysville, WA. No message was left because my voicemail doesn't pick up until 5 rings and robo callers hang up on 4 rings or less.
