Received a call from this number. It was an Indian woman that answered the phone. She told me the same story above about a $9,200 grant. I soon as I started questioning her she hung up. I called back and a man answered he tried to tell me the same story. I told him that they better not call me again and he started to curse at me. Definitely a scam and not a very good one!
Yeah they are persistent... They called me twice both with super thick accents, saying they were from the Treasury Department and that because I had no criminal record I was randomly selected through a demographic survey to receive $9,200 grant... I just had to go to some registration office and pay a "small fee" to receive it
I answer the call from this number, and there was silence. After I said "hello" a second time, a woman with an Indian accent came on and said she was calling from the United States Department of Child Protective Services. I said, "no you're not." She said, "yes, I am." I repeated that she was not. She stuck to her guns until I asked her to identify herself, then she hung up.
