People... these are ALL calls from a somewhat sophisticated company trying to scam you. Most times, they claim to have the ability to reduce your credit cards interest rates if you owe 5 or 10 thousand dollars.
That in itself is only part of the scam they are operating.
Pushing any button to remove you from their calling list is useless. Actually, they want you to do that as this shows your phone number is active to which they add it to a database and will keep calling and calling .... and calling.
Having your phones on the federal (or any state) Do Not Call List has no effect with these vermin.
PLUS...if you say "Hello" more than once... their software will recognize your line as active and again add your phone line to their calling list.
Their system is good enough to spoof any normal caller ID you have as the number showing rarely tracks back to its source. And even if it does, you will not be able to speak to a live operator.
This scam is old and well set up.
Your best response is to
1) say "Hello" only once. listen carefully. Hang up or disconnect.
2) If you wish to engage these scumbags and if line doesnt go dead and you are offered a choice of buttons, push the one for the live operator and proceed to waste their time. Play them out as much as you can stomache. They're lieing to you anyway.
This company calls constantly. All the numbers they use are owned by "Pacific Telecom Communication Group". Make sure to file a FCC complaint against them.
I am up to 5 calls today from them. Have 4 in less than 10 minutes this morning. Filed a complaint with the Attorney General of PA and will continue to do it each time they call. They can see what it is like to have people annoy you all day.
DO THIS --- when they call, politely ask "can you hold on for a minute?" Then put the phone down without disconnecting and walk away for a few minutes. After you do this a couple of times, they will take you off their list because this interferes with their call volume goals. I giggle sometimes when I do it.
