On July 26, 2012, I got a call from this number. It registered on my caller ID as "Financial Ctr." I did not answer the phone. On today's date, August 15, 2012, I received another call from "Financial Ctr." except this time the number was 503-457-1407. I answered this call. The recording said that this is my final courtesy call to lower my credit card rate to 6%; all I need is $3,000 in credit card debt and one card in good standing. It also said they have tried to contact me several times and that this is my final call for my yearly credit card review.
The automated recording did not give a key to press to be removed from their list; It said "Press 1 if you are interested in lowering your credit card debt..." So I pressed 1 and got a woman who said "So i understand you are interested in lowering your credit card payments?" I said, "No, but I understand I want to be removed from your call list." Before I could finish my sentence, she hung up on me!
If you get a call from "Financial Ctr" on your caller ID, DO NOT ANSWER!
I have done this several times already and every time they hang up on me. How am I to get off this list!???
They just called me again. I answered the phone "You have reached a do not call number. Because you keep calling and ignoring the law, the FTC is now recording this conversation. You will be prosecuted and fined to the full extent of the law" CLICK. Now if they call again....I will do my best Don Corleone imitation and tell these fools that Vinny and Bruno are tracing the call and will be paying them a visit tonight.
Jesse has a great idea. If there were only an answering device that would provide one (or more) messages for known numbers and another for unknown numbers, I'd love to implement that "You have reached a Do Not Call number..."
Not, of course, that they listen. It's a machine calling. And a machine could care from squat.
BTW, I have Google Voice, and it could do this, but I haven't given that number out generally and don't want to commit my widely distributed business land line number to it.
This is the same old crooks as "Rachel from credit card services". Only now they set up their caller ID to read "financial ctr". Still a scam. All you can do is tell everyone you know that no one that's on the up and up ever calls out of the blue to ask for personal information.
