On July 26, 2012, I got a call from this number. It registered on my caller ID as "Financial Ctr." I did not answer the phone. On today's date, August 15, 2012, I received another call from "Financial Ctr." except this time the number was 503-457-1407. I answered this call. The recording said that this is my final courtesy call to lower my credit card rate to 6%; all I need is $3,000 in credit card debt and one card in good standing. It also said they have tried to contact me several times and that this is my final call for my yearly credit card review.
The automated recording did not give a key to press to be removed from their list; It said "Press 1 if you are interested in lowering your credit card debt..." So I pressed 1 and got a woman who said "So i understand you are interested in lowering your credit card payments?" I said, "No, but I understand I want to be removed from your call list." Before I could finish my sentence, she hung up on me!
If you get a call from "Financial Ctr" on your caller ID, DO NOT ANSWER!
I have done this several times already and every time they hang up on me. How am I to get off this list!???
Received a call from this number, and they offered to take over our credit account balances of over $5,000.00. When we inquired whose credit card balances he was talking about, they hung up on us... Authorities should catch up with these crooks before innocent people get ripped off... Thanks!!!
As others have said, all they do is hang up you when you tell them to stop calling. Unfortunately, it seems the "government" is powerless to stop these calls because it seems no matter how many complaints they get the calls continue. Being on the No Call list seems to only keep the honest companies from calling you.
Got two calls today (Friday 2012-08-03). Both numbers are new to the list of constant calls I've been getting lately, but I have seen the caller ID name (FINANCIAL CTR) on two other numbers before, 503-457-1792 and 206-496-0931:
I suspect these are part of the same scam organization that has been calling me constantly from a variety of numbers for over four months now, more detail and numbers in my posts here:
Got a call from these people today. It starts with the recorded message FRAUDULENTLY telling me that they have tried to reach me, sent me notices in the mail, etc. and that this is the last chance for you to lower the rates on all of your credit cards. This time (they have called before), I pressed 1 to speak to someone. Naturally, the fellow hung up before I could finish telling him to take me off their list.
I can understand the loophole used by charities and political candidates. But why is the "Do not call" system in place if it is useless?
