I got the same "Microsoft-Fix" call that many others have. I was told to disable my browser and then press Windows+R keys. I know this opens the Run window. He then told me to type "eventvwr" in the command line. I knew it was a scam from the beginning, but I like to play along just to see the angle they're coming from.
These people are [***] and they prey upon our own ignorance. The only reason it persists is because it works for them. With new technology allowing callers to mask or fool caller ID's, there is no real method of tracking them down. Given the fact that almost every person has been described as having a heavy accent, I imagine most of these calls are coming from overseas, regardless of where the caller ID says it's coming from. The only way to get them to stop it to shrink their target population of uninformed masses. Tell your friends and families. The only way to stop this nonsense is to stop being victims of it.
The Josh Eval phone number (360) 633-9382 did not ring when i attempted to call it back. Fake number
I just received a call from this number for the 2nd time today. They have called here 4 times before today. The caller ID shows Josh Eval and the phone number 360-633-9382. One call today was from a woman and the next call was from a man, both with a heavy Indian accent. I played along for a minute with the man and he asked if I was in front of my computer. He told me my computer was badly infected. That's when I told him I had received previous phone calls from them. I said "you people are so full of s*** don't call here again!" I wonder how many people actually fall for this scam?
I also received the same call, swear it must be the only guy they have....tried the same lines about my computer, basically told them to not call back, take us off the list and hung up. Why can't these things be stopped, this is not the first time these type of calls have come in.
Scammer says he's from Microsoft and he needs me to log-on to fix my computer. Told him I'm on the do not call list and to take me off his list. Called two more times and I told him that he was on notice and that my lawyer would sue his xss. Number called one more time at 10:30 pm. How stupid
