I received a call at 10:05am and I am on the east coast from a Washington State number - which would be 7am their time. Message was cut off but same as other posters - call about case number and left the phone number.
Automated female voice leaves message that IRS is suing me, and to call another number.
Obviously, this is some sort of scam. So, I did not call to find out more info.
Same as Mike and Marvin and probably the same recorded message. Sounds phoney. They wanted me to call 360-450-0205 for more info which I did not do. You would think that IRS would want to go and get these criminals.
email sent to IRS:
Automated female voice from 360-566-2212 leaves a message that IRS is suing me, and to call another number 360-450-0205 for more info which I did not do. I would think that IRS would want to go and get these criminals. I am not the only one that got this call. These sort of people need to be stopped. IRS,,, why not call this number and tell them to stop this for us taxpayers that they are trying to rip off.
This fake caller claimed that it was from the IRS, and that the IRS was bringing a lawsut against me for unspecified charges. They gave 360-566-2212, originating from Vancouver, WA as the call back number to call for details.
Instead of calling I decided to check the number and found your site alerting the public to the scam.
I plan to file a complaint with the FBI as this is an interstate computer crime and I would recommend that anyone else who receives such a call do the same.
Definitely a scam, but it scared the crap out of me for a few seconds! I called H&R Block to alert them and they already know about it. As scared as I was initially, what if I was an elderly person with a heart condition?! These people are terrible that spread these scams. How do they sleep at night??
