I received a call at 10:05am and I am on the east coast from a Washington State number - which would be 7am their time. Message was cut off but same as other posters - call about case number and left the phone number.
Received the same call as everyone else but now they are giving out a different number to call. 509-983-4037. I called the number to see what it was about and got a foreign person who couldn't speak English very well. I asked what it was about and she said that she needed the last 4 of on SSN. I asked once again what it was about since all I got on my voicemail was the phone number. She promptly hung up the phone. So I called the number back again and it just ran forever.
Got the same call this morning on cell phone. Number they wanted me to cal. 509-983-4037. Tried to report to IRS by phone but a 60 minute wait. Didn't,t call them back.
I received the same automated voice message with the female voice. "Calling from" number is the same, but the number that they wanted me to call is 509-288-4624. Both Numbers originate from state of Washington, but the actual numbers are unknown to the phone company. I called the second number from a different phone, and we let it ring out, only to get the AT&T message that no one was answering and try later. I will definitely file a report on this.
