The call showed as 800-829-1040 the caller had a hindu accent stated he was with the district attorneys office of the irs, the call was very garbled. he called me by name and said I had commited state tax fraud and said there would be a warrant out for my arrest in 60 day if I did not do what he said. He told me to call 360-861-4615 to verify information. My husband took the phone and started asking questions, thats when the guy got freaked out said he"d see us in court and hung up. Total Fraud.
Got a call from this number from a man with an East Indian accent and lots of static. Asked for my daughter by name and gave me a badge number. Said he was calling from IRS and that my daughter better return the call soon to avoid their lawsuit. When I asked if he had mailed her anything, he got very short and said no and that I'd better have her call. No company name shows on caller ID. Just location of Elma, WA. Has been calling at least once per day for over a week.
This is a common scam. The caller is in India & is spoofing the number. Block the number if you can and give no information to him. www.irs.gov has information about the cam on their website.
He called me and said I had committed tax evasion and than changed it to tax fraud. He got very short when I asked him questions. He said there was a warrant out for my arrest and my local sheriffs department was looking for me, when I informed him that I worked for them he got upset called me a liar, to which I replied "I am aware of where I work this call is [***] and a scam good bye."
Same as the other guys who posted, this guy is trying to scam people. He got upset with me and started to shout as I asked him where he got my information. Don't give this criminal any information!!!!
