Caller ID claimed it was an "ALERT" call. We are signed up with the school system here to get ALERT notifications in case of an emergency at the school. This call was a fake ALERT and should be banned!
Got a call at 11:36 a.m. on 3/11/15. They hung up on my answering machine. I called the number and the recording said "no longer in service or has been disconnected". This seems to be what we get from telemarketers. We never pick up the phone on these unknown numbers. Why don't they just give up and quit calling? Disgusting jerks!
I purchased a call Blocker device and have now blocked the number as well as the entire area code since I know no one in that area code. I also filed complaints to the do not call registry, they have contacted me concerning complaints and I am in email contact with them listing numbers that do call my home. , The more complaints they receive the more it shows that these are not random calls
I have filed numerous complaints with the donotcall registry and did receive a phone call from them concerning a complaint I had filed. I was given advice on how to handle future calls and every few weeks, I email them a list of numbers that have called me illegally, after filing the required complaints. They are trying their best to offset the illegal spammers who circumvent the true do not call list. True telemarketers sign up for the list and respect the wishes of those on it or face hefty fines and possible legal action. These who are spammers and illegal do not care. It is those we need to try and stop and to take a few minutes to file a complaint may strengthen cases. I was also advise to file a complaint with the FTC on a particular spammer, which I did. Doesn't take much time and it is worth a try.
I have also bought a call blocker device and now block individual numbers as well as area codes. When these blocked numbers call, they are cut off after one ring. They still call back but do not get through and it doesn't even ring in my home anymore.
Called yesterday. Caller ID said ALERT. I answered.... recorded message says something about "chronic back pain" and to press 1 if interested in free products. OK, I'm game to talk to the Scammers to see what their scam is so I pressed 1. Adult male came on and asked my name. Then asked if I had Medicaid or Medicare -- told him no. Then asked me what Insurance I had. I asked him why he needed to know. He said they worked with all insurance companies (right !). I asked him the name of his company, and he said "Biotech Medical". Asked him where they were located, and he said Atlanta, Georgia (near where I am) .... He said 'why all the questions"... and I said I wanted to make sure they were a legitimate company. He started getting snarly, and said they were legitimate, and why did I need to know all of this. I asked him what his phone number was, and he didn't say anything. Then I said, if you are in Atlanta, why are you using a 361 area code ? That is no where near Atlanta.... he then hung up. S C A M ! B E W A R E ! Next time they call, I will give them the name, address and phone number of the local police department, where they can send their 'free" back pain medicine, and maybe they'll PO the cops....other option is to give them the name and number of my congressman, Mr. John Lewis, famous Civil Rights icon -- maybe if these scammers start calling his office, they will get annoyed and do something.....
