In Canada too, have gotten a number of these since an online purchase with an MBNA MasterCard with Blizzard Entertainment. Curious because the card isn't in my name, but the invoice had my phone number.
I've got calls from them at home and at work. They seem to be targeting numbers at random. They claim that they can reduce your credit card interest rates. I chatted with them and they said that they operate out of Florida USA. at 8301 Orange Blossom Trail #204, 1-800-468-7399.
The company also uses fake caller ID of random phone numbers.
I just got a call from these guys. Florida on the call display as well. I am in Ontario.
The ticket for me is that this is a brand new cell phone number, 2 weeks old and I have mostly only given it to family, and friends.
Three days ago I was in Canadian Tire and asked was asked if I wanted a Canadian Tire Master card. I said sure and gave them my info including my new cell number... I blame them.
I did not answer when they called, and they left a voice message that was all but cut off but it ended with a 6 digit number which I assume was the back end of a number they wanted me to call back to.
Also Canadian. Pressed 1 to talk to someone. He said "I understand you want a lower rate..." and I said "Of course not, I just want you to stop calling." He wanted to give me a number to call but I told him I wasn't going to call something for them. He sounded very cheezy and like a total slimeball.
