These [***] called looking for my dad.  Little do they realize, my dad doesn't give me as a reference for ANYTHNG without asking me first. They said they had legal documents for him but wouldn't tell me what it was and that they need to make sure it's delivered to him. I called them on their [***], hung up, called back and told them if they call me again I will track their location down, and blow the [***] sky high. Lets see them call me back again!

Received a call and was told I had a complaint being filed against me.  The woman stated I needed to write down the telephone number and call it for further information regarding the complaint being filed against me.  I asked the woman who was filing the complaint?  The woman said she had no info. other than I needed to call the number.  Being in the legal field, if a complaint is being filed, it is simply filed and you receive notification from the courts in which it was filed my either a service processor or by mail.  Your are not receiving  a telephone call,  that is for sure!  I advised this low life who called me to remove my number from their call list and not to call my number again.   She proceeded to get flip with her mouth and yell so your not going to write the number down, and click went my phone.  Thank God for call BLOCK!

I have received phone calls from this number at home, on my cell and at work. A family member answered the phone and they asked where I was and stated it was very important to get a hold of me as I was going to have serious charges taken against me do to a past due balance. For one thing I have no past due balances and secondly what kind of legitimate debit collector or whatever this BS is would detail personal information to someone other than the person they are trying to call? I have no doubt that this is a scam and I highly recommend not giving them any of your financial information.

You are right, they are not allowed to discuss the matter with anyone but you, but then criminals do not ever follow the law.  This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, etc. all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
