Came home from work to find a message on my answering machine. The machine cut off all but something about this being the last courtesy call I will receive before my vehicle is reclassified. WTF? Gave the option to "Press 1 now and your file will be closed." All that shows on caller ID is Palm Coast, FL. I hadn't tried calling it back, came here to check first. I love this website!
I received a call from 386-447-4875 followed by a call the next day with an identical message from +50622287464 (Apparently Costa Rica, considering +506 followed by 8 digits) on a cell phone on the do not call list. On the +506 call, I pressed 1 to talk to a representative and question them. I was given the same script as Claude Van Horn above ("We can lower the interest rates on all your credit cards". Claimed they were associated with Master Card, Visa, American Express and Discover and would lower the rates on all the cards."). When I asked why I was being called considering I have had no business with them and I'm on the do not call registry she asked for my phone number "so she could write it down and give it to her manager". This is very troubling considering the call was apparently routed through Costa Rica as an attempt to thwart the do not call registry. I filed complaints at FTC(http://www.donotcall.gov) and FCC(http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm).
