I was involved in a class action law suit against Merchant Credit Adjusters quite a few years ago. And we won the law suit. They are a horrible debt collector. If the debt is small, they will hold onto the debt for YEARS!! in order to gain lots of interest. The reason for the lawsuit. My roommate answered the phone once and they told her they had a bench warrant out for my arrest. Quick search of the county I live in's website and no warrant out for my arrest. -sigh-
This number calls at least twice a day, usually close together, and leaves a message for different names. Then leaves a callback number stating it's not a solicitation. So far, after several days of this, none of the names have been the same, and none of them have been mine. It's very, very annoying.
I am sorry everyone had such bad experiences with them. I have spoken with them 3 times about outstanding debts that are legitemate & they have been courteous & professional with me. Of course, I was willing to make arragements with them at the time of the calls and not in dispute over the debts, so that helped! I am glad I returned their calls.
Just got two calls from them in under 10 minutes. Didn't answer either one, the way I figure it, if I don't know the number and they don't leave a message then it obviously wasn't important. When they call again I'll pick it up just to see what they say. The thing is, I have no bills. I paid cash in person for my cruddy little car, and I don't have a credit card, nor have I been to a doctor or hospital in the last 7 years and before a year ago I was on my parents insurance. I'll post again when they call. Thanks everyone, glad this site exists.
