Be sure to sign up on the National Do Not Call List, you have to re-new every 5 yrs but it's worth it. Usually when you tell them you're on it 'legally' they are supposed to stop calling.

They called me tonight with the introduction that they were from STS International on behalf of Broomfield Colorado (I live in Denver) -- i.e. the scam is to reassure that this is not a sales call, they want to give me something, and oh by the way, we're from just nearby to where you are.

The only problem is it didn't make any sense, and the caller was clearly calling from India given her thick accent and that she could not be understood clearly.

The 402 area code may be a masked originating number (perhaps through an AT&T bank -- i.e. when you use an AT&T calling card to call long-distance, there are numbers like these that appear on callerID).  The only reason i let this woman speak is that I thought it might initially be legit re: an existing business relationship and i wanted to be sure before telling her to leave me the F alone and that I was reporting to DNC.

I was very polite but firm -- and no they didnt call back becaue I said hey you're calling from India, not broomfield, bseides so leave me alone and put me on every do not call list and you are being reported.

"Jennifer Leal" just called saying she's with Oasis International in Southlake, Texas (a nearby town).  Noisy call center & she hung up on me early- before I could screw with her & waste her time....

The phone number is spoofed & even AT & T can't identify the caller origin.  That's why we're getting so many of these BS scam calls.  Reporting for Do Not Call List does nothing- can't ID the caller.

Until they figure out how to block spoofed called ID, this continues- the joy of digital telephone systems.

And most phones only block 30 numbers- the scammers change numbers like their underwear!

You need to do what we do is if the caller ID shows a number we do not know we let the answering maching take it.  These calls never leave a message and we do not have to talk with the idiots.

Got the same spiel about Oasis International in Southlake, TX (which is nearby).  Got the same call about ten days ago and both times asked to be removed from their list .  Today, the lady asked me why I wouldn't want a free vacation, it would just take a minute and I replied that I knew it was a scam and reminded that I'd asked to be placed on the no call list, so she screamed at me before hanging up.
