Got a call from this number tonight. 402-362-9992 - They Know My Name They Have Lots Of Numbers They Call From - They Call Me Almost Every Other Night...Its Getting Too [***] Old It Needs To STOP....Yes They Call Me Cell Phone....Just Stop......
I got a call from this number and they said that they were calling on behalf of ABB vacations at the local Marriot hotel. The accfent sounded like East Indian. I told the supervisor that I was interested and then I hung up. Another scam of some kind.
Just got this call saying that they were calling from a Marriott in a town near here even though the area code was not the same. Then the person pretended to not hear me after I answered her first question and kept saying hello hello, then she hung up. Annoying!
This number is fake (or spoofed). There are Internet sites like www.SpoofCard.com or where anyone can buy a prepaid calling card. This prepaid calling card has special features to hide the real identity of the caller. Likewise a business can buy bulk pre-paid calling, and apparently this is what this caller is doing. They choose a number to be displayed on your called ID that has been faked - they could make it show to be coming from the White House if they wanted to.
There are Federal regulations prohibiting the use of this technology by telemarketers and debt collectors. This service is also a stalker's dream and a victim's nightmare. Who else but telemarketers, debt collectors, scam artists trying to get your personal information and stalkers trying to harrass you, would need this type of service?
Even though it is said that the service is for Law Enforcement, Skip Tracers, Private Investigators, etc., everyone knows that these professionals have other means to accomplish the same goal. The "Spoofer" is also able to change his/her voice to be a man or a woman and not sound like a recording. With a "Spoof" call, *69 (Call Return), *57 (Call Trace), and Anonymous Call features to typically provide you with information, do not work.
Just pick up the phone, then hang up on them (preferable to ignoring the call).
