You are wrong.
The Do Not Call registry stops thousands of law-abiding businesses from calling you. You just can't *count* calls you *don't* get.
Expecting the Do Not Call law to stop criminals from calling is like expecting a "No Trespassing" sign to prevent burglaries.
Many telemarketing and scam calls originate form overseas, beyond the jurisdiction of U.S. laws.
And finally, one benefit of the Do Not Call Registry, even when it's violated, is that you no longer need to wonder if the call you get is legitimate: If they're calling, they're criminal.
I get these same call constantly. When I told him that I was going to report him to the police, he called me a mother-f--ker and hung up. I have a call block on this number now. They can still call me but can't get through. Sometimes they call from Canada also.
They called me and didn't leave a message, so I called them back to remind them that I was on the Federal Do Not Call List, and I got an automated recording with an option to be added to their own "do not call" list. So hopefully it worked, but it's frustrating to get these calls when you're already listed in the federal data base. Good luck!
I used to receive many many calls from Credit Services. They are not a Government agency, they are trying to refinance your credit cards. They have many many different numbers that they call from. I asked them over and over to take me off of their list, but they could (would) not. I told them I was on the do-not-call registry, but that did not help.
I found an effective way to get them to leave me alone. Tell them YES you are interested in their service. Spend about 5 minutes giving them PHONY information then reveal the fact that you just filled their database with fake information. I told them if they were going to waste my time, I would waste theirs.
It took me three calls - about 15 minutes of my time - to get them to stop. Some may say this is a waste of your time, but it was actually quite enjoyable to listen to the silence and then the stammering on the other end of the line when I revealed the truth. If enough people do this, Credit Services may stop being so agressive with people who are clearly not interested.
