They said that they were calling seniors 65 and older. Talked about crime, falls, etc. They said that they were with the American Institute on Aging. Caller I.D. just showed Atlanta, GA. They said that they were giving out a free medical alert system along with pharmacy discount cards. They just needed my address. Then they said to press 1 to talk to an operator or press 2 so that they could notify my carrier that I refused service. I am reporting this one to the Federal Do Not Call registry. I listened to the whole message, just so that I could find out all I could about this caller.
Daily calls since 1st week of Sept 2015. Never leaves a message. Added to the "answer, hang up, and I'll never know they called me" list on my iPhones call blocker app.
We just got their call. Mom insisted on answering; I don't know exactly why but from the sound of her voice she seemed amused by it. I was online at the time & BARELY got 800 Notes up & the "number" entered into the search box before she picked up; I wasn't sure I got it right (but I looked when she hung up & found out I did). I read her the above entries, then she hung up on them. (Groan) I wish she hadn't picked up on them...I wonder how many calls we'll get from them before they give up (if they ever do).
As for reporting such people to anyone like the FCC, getting the president to put on some executive order, etc. reporting them here does as much good if not more. Orders, laws, etc. depend on the people being interested in abiding by the law and on them actually living in the country in question. These people do neither of those things. It's time we learned to find law abiding ways to take care of ourselves instead of depending on the government for every little thing! (800 Notes is one of those things and I am thankful for it.)
Oh now I am laughing! Other tactics I've learned from this site: 1) Give your three year old the phone. 2) Buy an air horn. Give them a dose of that. 3) Put them on indefinite hold. 4) Say, "Yeah, let me get back to you on that," and then hang up on them.
When I was in middle school we got a lot of prank calls. We had an old schoolhouse bell (think Little House on the Prairie) my great grandma used to ring (she was a turn of the century school teacher). We rang that into their ear. It wasn't long before they stopped. Then there's Plymouth J. Clifford. We've received several of these types of calls, and he's not the only one doing that type of thing to them. Even my mom got into the act, but that was before we heard of him. When we got the Lower Your Credit Card Rate call, she would actually talk to them, asking, "Which one is that?" and they never could answer because the catch is, WE DON'T HAVE ONE!!! We gave that up after the one we tried got out of hand. That tactic works for the Your Printer/Copier Ink/Paper is Getting Hard to Find call as well, I understand. One bunch gets mad when you tell them you can't understand their accent...but I actually talked to one of them and it's true. (I didn't fall for it; I just wanted to see who was on the other end.) As for remembering, if you have this type of phone you can save the number but call it "Scam Do Not Answer".
I hope some of this helps or at least that you get as good a laugh from it as I did from your whistle!
404-382-7363 called today 9/24/15 and did not leave a message. I looked up the number on the internet and see it is a spam number. I called them back using my work phone and noone would answer.
