rec'd an automated call with caller ID showing a number 605-301-4167 which is Pierre, SD (I do live in SD), but they gave a call back number as 404-445-3284 stating there was a "note" attached to my name & Drivers License.?? What with this?
I received a computer generated phone message on November 11th 2014 stating that they received a claim with my name and social security. I returned there call asking for further information and informed them I would not be providing them with any personal information. The gentleman on the phone asked which number I was calling from and the number I received the message from. I told the representative that I would not be providing him with any information and within seconds he immediately hung up on me.
The company name: Four Star Revenue Management
Phone number of the original message 920-395-1189 Sheboygan, WI
The phone number return call: 855-510-4585
This is the same number I was given to call. (855) 510-4585.They said a complaint has been filed against me, the first time they lied and said they were from the "State". Wish I still had that message. Well now I know I don't have to freak out. I was under the impression they were going to start taking money from my disability. So glad "We" the People talk to each other, to help prevent us from being scammed. I have seriously been freaking out over this. Thank you everyone for helping me out on this. Knowledge will save me a lot of stress. :))))))
This has to be illegal, scaring the crap out of us, using the title of "State and Social Security". I think I am going to call my social security office tomorrow and see what they can do to help get rid of this problem, You have no idea how panicked I have been over these repeated scary phone calls.
They are just scamming debt collectors. No debt collector can touch your government benefits. Ignore those people and block their calls. They are seriously bad actors. Don't worry about it.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.
If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them.
