I checked around. This phone number is 'called' Tea Party Patriots. Apparently they don't have anything to do with the 'tea party'. The common characteristic among the call recipients is that someone in the household (or the address) might have voted for the Republicans (GOP) in one of the last 2 elections. So this number (group) is being used to harass these people till they get fed up with the Tea Party and stop supporting it.
I can't get more information to find out if this is a Democratic funded scammer or someone doing it on his own funds to try help the Democrats.
Remember the IRS!
Maybe, this is a variant on the same kind of harassment.
If it is really the Tea Party calling, they would wait to talk to you about their cause and ask for your support or at least, for a donation. This number just calls till you want to pull your hair out. No other intent behind it.
This is who the caller is: http://www.teapartypatriots.org/
They are a non-profit, therefore, they do not have to comply with the Do Not Call law. However, if you have asked them to stop calling you, but the calls continue, then you should file a complaint with your state Office of Attorney General, Consumer Protection. Here is their address you'll need for your complaint form:
Tea Party Patriots
1025 Rose Creek Dr; STE 620-322
Woodstock, GA 30189
I started getting 3-4 calls a day from this number about a week ago. Mine only said it was a call from Georgia. My cell service is with Verizon and I was able to go onto their web site and block this number for 90 days using the device manager.
On July 22, 2013 at 8:32PM this number called my home [8:30 at flippin' night]. Caller-Id indicated "TPP" with the caller's phone number. When I answered with a "Hello" the male sounding caller asked specifically for me by my full name. Full correct first name and full last name. He then identified himself as such, "Hi. This call is being recorded. I'm calling on behalf of Tea Party Patriots..." I immediately interrupted him as I always do with unsolicited Phone Solicitors [give 'em a moment and they'll take an hour] and I told him, "I am not interested. Please do not call me ever again..." And before I could finish my sentence the caller, sounding upset and with an indignant tone, blurted out, "okay. Fine. We'll take you off the call list." We then hung up.
CID said "TPP," and they asked for my husband by name. I asked "Who's calling, please," and she answered "Tea Party Patriots," and I told her to put us on their DNC list. She asked for confirmation and said she'd take care of it, and was professional about the whole thing.
I dearly wish these people would realize that they're not endearing themselves to us by calling. If, as is posited on the front page, this is actually a Democratic front group trying to discredit the Tea Party, that... wouldn't actually surprise me.
