I received a call from this number. A woman identified herself as Nicole Cochran and said she works with the Criminal Investigation Dept. of Dorothy Thornton and Associates. She was calling on behalf of my sister and basically said if my sister didn't call by the end of the day (7-9-10) she would have a warrant out for her arrest. After making a phone call to someone else for help they said this person is probably just a collection agency and I shouldn't worry about it. Well, you do worry about it when these people are so sure-sounding and give you case numbers, etc.. I'm only posting this as another warning since a different phone number was listed when I Googled DT and Assoc.
Pam, E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T JOB!!! You did exactly the right thing and you are correct on every point. You are absolutely right about the reason why they didn't give out their fax# or address. They don't want you to know that they really are DORSEY THORNTON and ASSOC. The sleaziest lowest bottom feeder debt collector out there. I'm amazed they haven't been busted yet. But it's coming. I'm going to call her tomorrow and ask some questions. BTW Their BBB rating is F.
Last year late septermber Nichole Cochran called my place of employment and left a message stating if I didn't call her back that she will have an arrest warrant out on me if I didn't call her back by 3 pm. I paid that loan off as quickly as i could...almost losing my apartment glad my landlord was very understanding. I started getting calls late march of this year and just today. I went round and round with Ms. Jose explaining to her I paid this off last year and for her to call Nichole Cochran...she didn't know who she was. She finallly went to her supervisor and he/she verified that I did pay it off and it was a computer glitch. Ms. Jose told me that she would close the case and put a note on my file stating do not call case closed. Now I've gotten another call from a different lady who I couldn't understand what her name is. I'm at my wits end with this company...the number that they have been calling me from is 404-935-9489
if u look up dorsy thornton & associates it comes up as they r private investigators but if u go thru their site u will find add 2 cart an check out...wot do they think we r going 2 do go shopping? wot idiots
this woman left an automated call on my work phone, threatening me witha warrant for check fraud. i have an old balance on a payday loan, so i think that may be where this started, but i have made contact with the loan company to settle it. i'm not calling this nutjob and i'm certainly not giving her my credit card info.
i hate to tell you this, but i think you've been duped, and they must figure, if it worked once, why not again... and again? DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MORE MONEY!!
