I called the number and once again, another non profit org. wanting money. They do not identify themselves so it's difficult to report on the company's name that they are representing.
I hope that no one contributes to these unknown non-profit organization over the phone. Some are legitimate while most are not.
My mother donates regularly to this same school, I believe. For whatever, reason, they call my number instead of my parents' number with their thank you messages and well wishes in their native language. My mom has even given them the correct number to call, but they must be slow in updating their records as I received another call today. It's not annoying, per se, but I'd rather they thank the proper person.
I suppose this particular number could belong to a call center with multiple clients. However, the particular charity to whom my mom donates is legitimate.
Off topicI'd just reiterate that if one is uncomfortable donating over the phone, a direct donation to one's preferred charities is probably best. Even I refuse to donate to my alumni association over the phone in favor of waiting until I get the annual mailing from them.
