I just called them trying to sell a photocopier, not much in the way of retaliation but to me it felt great. They did not need one so I told them i would call tomorrow and see if they had changed thier mind.
I work reception for a real estate agency and got a phone call from "Brittany" and asked to speak to one of our agents. She wouldn't give out any more information about the company and hung up on me. Googled the number and found this board.
I just received a call from the same number and have before in the past. I've called their bluff though. I told him I do not pay for leads up front because they are bogus....if he wanted me to send him a referral fee form I would pay their company 25% of my commission which is much more than the $99.00. But I will pay at close of escrow, a check will be sent to them automatically through escrow. He simply said, "oh ok thank you for your time!"
These guys will take your $99.00 and give you a bogus lead. The lead will be a live person that never comes to fruition. This company in particular is a scam....don't pay for anything up front. If they are legit and have a legit lead, they will take the higher percentage referral fee at close of escrow!
$99.00 seems cheap for a possible commission, and if you lose it it doesn't seem like much to lose. However, they call agents all day long, even if they get 5 per day give or take to bite the bate....they've made a good sum of money per day! More than most of us agents right now in California with this recession.
As the economy gets worse, more and more snakes will come out!
I am a Realtor in B'ham and this number has called me twice - once from a guy name Jeff and now from a guy named Dennis. Talked to them once and told them NO thanks and a different guy call a couple of days later!
Received call from company named Real Estate Client Referrals, reportedly from Missoula, MT; CID number 406-329-7652. Representative gave name of Shaun Schrader, with direct call back #406-532-3725, and then started presentation by stating there were no contracts, no miniums required, no pre-set territories, you only pay if you're happy; all buyer referrals were intensly screened through their pre-qualification program and came with a double security assurance of being legitimate referrals: 1. A 7-Day review period by Agent, if you don't feel 'compatible' with the buyer referral, you'd not be charged for that lead. 2. A 90-Day moneyback guarantee, if you're unhappy with their service within the first 90 days, you will be refunded for the 'referral account' that you established. All that for only $99.00 per client referral. Then came the push to go on-line with him and set up my 'prepay referral account' of at least 10-15 leads to get started today!
I commented on the 'no contracts, no minimums, pay if you're happy' aspect, why was it imperative that I now set up an on-line pre-pay account? Why not accept a referral agreement between our companies and pay their lead referral fee upon closing of transaction? That question was avoided and the attempt to divert the conversation back to the urgency of 'securing the territory of my choice' was addressed. When I pointed out that he mentioned there were no 'pre-set' territories, therefore no 'urgent need' to obtain the area of my choice, he again failed to respond directly to that issue, but instead starting naming areas within our city that were still available, but only if the 'referral account' was established today. I then requested the full leagal business name/address of the company he was calling on behalf of, whether anyone within their company was licensed in real estate, a web-site for the company and any existing licensed referral agents already established in my state, with which I could contact for recommendations. I was not given a business address; I was told no one was licensed within their company, I was given 'recr.com' as a web-site and two RE agents within my state to call for recommendations. However, I knew the numbers given were not within my state, by the area codes.
As far as I'm concerned they shot themselves in the foot several times over! I would never deal with any unknown caller unwilling to give credentials requested for verification. Another point to verify with each agent's state with regards to paying a 'referral fee'; some states' real estate licensing division have rules/regulations prohibiting the paying of a 'referral fee' to any unlicensed company/principal broker. If any doubts, stay away from this telemarketer!
That is a really stupid comment. I am not going to work with a buyer that doesn't know how to leave a phone message that is why I am not sitting in front of the tv watching soap opera's. By your comment I can assume that you are not someone a real working agent would want to work with and you probably have to have a private number because the people who know you don't want to take your calls.
