I knew this was a scam right away.. I tried to play along and ask question after question, and even asked to speak with a 'supervisor'... When I explained that I was aware of their scam he went on a little rant and rave and actually called me an [***] before hanging up on me...
I used to get these calls regarding my car warranty (I don't have a car with a warranty) and I was able to call them back... Unfortunately, this number does not receive incoming calls :-(
Got a call from this number this afternoon. The caller ID said "Service Dispatch", and the partial message was something about lowering interest rates, but don't know whether it meant credit card or mortgage. We have been getting several calls from numbers like this one this month--the numbers keep changing but the scam is the same. I never answer calls from numbers I'm not familiar with--I've had too many like this in the past!!
I stayed on the line, and a woman said she was with "Cardholder Services" and asked me if I wanted to qualify for a 6% rate on MC and VISA cards. I asked for the company web site address and she hung up pronto. Clearly scam to get personal information. I called back caller ID number and it was non working.
Sounds like a bad VOIP connection, but it was clearly an American, sounds strongly like a minority, caller on the line.
Received from call from this number, today. A recorded message said this is my last chance to lower my credit rate(I can only hope). It further said press 1 to talk to a representative, or press 3 to discontinue any future calls. Guess which button I pressed.
