I have been contacted by your company about a debt you allege I owe. I am instructing you not to contact me further in connection with this debt. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a federal law, you may not contact me further once I have notified you not to do so.
I have a list of ten numbers so far that Portfolio uses. Be warned they will file a judgment against you no matter how old the debt is. Luckily for me at the time I didn't have any accounts. They can't touch Social Security or personal retirement accounts, at least in Michigan so if you have either of them make sure you answer the judgement and state that. What I would really like to know is what date do they have to go by when trying to collect and how would it be listed on your credit report. If they do file a judgment on you does it renew the SOL date or do they still have to use the old original date of the default. I know when they file a judgment it stays on your credit report for 7 years. During that seven years can they still try and collect or do they have to stop from the original default????
Sure would appreciate an answer on this. Thanks and good luck all.
