They also called my neighbor and asked had I moved. This is for a debt that was charged off 16 years ago. I am so disgusted with them, I am going to the Better Business Bureau, and any other agency I can find.
Isn't it funny that a representative from Portfolio Recovery has made a comment on this thread with a statement of "GEt the account number and send them a cease and desist letter:" Don't every give them information on any of your accounts, present or past, especially account numbers. The fact is they do not have any account information available to them and are fishing to get that from people. Never volunteer any information - and play it safe, record the conversation so that it may be used in a Federal Lawsuit against that illegitimate company who hires convicts fresh out of prison, along with it's management staff.
I did not answer this call because I do not answer numbers I do not recognize. I wait for them to leave a message and if it is important, they will leave one and I can call back. I do not know why they would be calling me, (if it is a debt collector) because I do not have any unpaid debt. I have never fallen behind on any payment. Hopefully it was a wrong number and I won't have to deal with any of that. But I think it would be interesting to have answered and see what they come up with.
