This number called a citizen saying they were an EMT and his daughter was in a horrible accident then went on saying the person she hit is a felon and can not go to the hospital which is when he started to demand money. EMT will not call family only hospitals do. Do not give any money to anyone that sounds anything like this
I received a similar call from this number today, but it was my parents who had been in the accident and hit a kid on a motorcycle. The "EMT" eventually began demanding $8000 to cover the cost of medical bills for the injured motorcyclist (supposedly his little brother), and if I didn't comply he was going to "put a bullet in each of their [my parents'] heads".
The person that contacted me on this number claimed to be an EMT from a local hospital and said that someone in an accident had listed me as their emergency contact. When they asked for my name, I asked who they were looking for. They avoided the question and asked if I understood what they were saying, stated that it was a young man around 22 that was in a Honda Accord that had been in the accident on Orange Ave, and asked if that fit the description of anyone I knew. I told them no, that didn't sound like anyone that I knew, and they said they might have the wrong number. It sounded busy in the background, lots of people talking. This call infuriated me! I was upset because it brought me right back to when I had received a real call like this about my husband, but when he couldn't ask for me by name, I figured (prayed!) it was a scam. What a horrible way to trick people!
My elderly mother got that call too..claiming they were Florida Hospital and had her number as an emergency contact for a young man who was in a bad way at the hospital who drove a Nissan. She panicked and called me, sending me into a panic since it described a family member. Fortunately it was the car model that was the giveaway. My daughter alerted me to this scam. We called the police and reported the number.
Received call 9/25 stating same as above, stated I was someone's point of contact who ran over a 16 year old kid on a bike.
Alluded it was my wife and they cracked her head with a gun and If I hung up or did not comply and give them $3000 they would put a bullet in my wife's head.
Very upsetting until I put the pieces together and grabbed another phone and contacted wife who was safe.
