I just got one of these calls today. Same story about a free nights stay at a Hilton in Manhattan or Orlando. I WORK for Hilton but have no idea what this call is about. Dont trust it. I am reporting it to Hilton today.
So I'm sitting here on my laptop and get a call on my cell phone from a 407 number which I immediately recognize as a Florida number because my grandmother has a house there. I'm 21 years old from Massachusetts and a criminal justice major, heard about all these scams about if you pick up your cell phone they charge you without you knowing until you get the bill, or one of the scams where they take your credit information. Of course I didn't pick up, I typed in the 407 number in google right away and got this forum! Anyways, SCAMMMM!!!
I just noticed I had a missed call from 407-722-3532. I remember receiving a call from Hilton a few months ago, but I had never stayed at a Hilton. They asked if I had ever stayed at Hampton Inn which is a part of the Hilton family of hotels. I had stayed in one last summer. I knew it was a scam of some kind when they asked for my friend (whose name I had put the room under). They wanted to offer a free stay in any of the Hilton family hotels, I said I wasn't interested and hung up.
