They`re calling on the east coast in Newfoundland Canada too. What a bunch of idiots. If they say you won something over the phone and the number comes up unknown name then it`s not legit. We all need to report these scammers. They get up to 20 years in the cell for this kind of fraud. They are hoping you`ll press 9 so they can make calls all over the world like the calls we get, that`s how they pay for the long distance calls they`re making and then your phone account gets charged thousands of dollars and you can`t do anything about it. They`ll try to get you to pay some release fee which is a couple hundred and this is how they make their money. Some people do fall for this type of scam and if by chance they can get you`re banking info they will take what they can get. I would advise all to have your banking deposits and withdrawals on an approved list.
they call me once a week on average. i phoned the police and said they were threatening to murder my family if i did not comply. now the police are investigating.
407-965-0600 I won a holiday vacation...They were really interested in me until I asked for a contact so I could give them my credit card details that I would get in a few days. Made out I was so excited about it all but I think they soon caught on I was scamming them at their expense.....
I think they just work on exact details or anyone daft enough to read out the card details over the phone.....It's a case of if you phone enough people some one will be stupid enough to give out...... Addresses are easily found these days so I wouldn't worry too much about giving one away on the phone.
However I would give your brother a kick up the [***] for being so gullible...
