Caller ID says Campbell CA. Automated voice message saying this was the second reminder from card services about my mortgage and referenced changes under Obama's legislation. I pressed 1 to speak to a representative. After a brief time on hold, I heard a man's voice answer and he asked for my name. Instead of giving him my name, I simply asked that my number be removed from their calling list. He hung up on me. Reported to do-no-call registry.
I too frequently get calls from this number (or maybe they even use other numbers; who keeps track of all these things) with an automated message about calling from "your credit card company" (but no identification as to which one, which puts me on alert immediately) about lowering my interest rates. Today's was something along the lines of this being my last chance to lower rates...Whoopee, if this was my last chance, maybe this is the last time they call. I never answer calls from area codes outside of mine, especially when caller ID says Unavailable and especially Unknown Name, Unknown Number (and the latter often turn out to be political calls!!). Do Not Call has too many loopholes.
They have called me many times using various numbers, but it is always the same recording telling me that it is credit card services and that it is my last chance to lower my credit card rate....I never press anything to talk to a person, as I know that it is a scam, as the credit card companies never do that. They will send you something in an e-mail or in the mail, but never by phone. Notice how this number never has an explanation on the caller ID. Do not fall victim to this scam, as it is a form of identity theft and never, ever give out your personal information. A good rule of thumb if you actually talk to a live person, tell them to give you their name and a number to call them back....They usually will hang up on you....
