You received an IP relay call. The relay is legitimately used by people who are deaf or hard of hearing to communicate with people who aren't. The relay operator has no information about who is calling you or who you are. If you have classified ads running, most likely someone from a foreign country is trying to get you to wire them money using a bogus check. The unfortunate beauty of IP Relay is that anyone can use it anonymously, even a fraudster. There's a chance it may be a deaf person calling to inquire about your ad but most likely not. You could just take the call and ask the person calling to call you back through the "state relay" using their TTY. if you don't feel right about it, my suggestion is to be nice to the relay operator and just hang up each time you receive a relay call.
I also received a call from this number at 8:55 pm on Dec. 6/07 It was a relay call regarding an add I had placed on Craigslist. I'm sure this is a scam as the woman said her daughter would be attending a local college that does not exist any more. This is the same type of scam where someone will want to send you a money order or cashier's check. Don't take the call!!

You could do that if you want, but you would be exploiting a system designed for legitimate communication for deaf & hard of hearing people. You would be acting very immature and irresponsible. I suggest you get a hobby like video games, watching paint dry, underwater basket weaving, or something other than prank calling people!
Somebody was calling you through the IP Relay because they didn't have the courage to call you themselves. They probably received your number from Myspace. You should NEVER give out your phone number on Myspace! The IP Relay system is legitimately used by people who are deaf or hard of hearing. It's based on the internet and free to use, so unfortunately lots of hearing people think it's fun to prank call each other. If it really bothers you, just be nice to the operator and hang up each time you get a relay call.
