You received an IP relay call. The relay is legitimately used by people who are deaf or hard of hearing to communicate with people who aren't. The relay operator has no information about who is calling you or who you are. If you have classified ads running, most likely someone from a foreign country is trying to get you to wire them money using a bogus check. The unfortunate beauty of IP Relay is that anyone can use it anonymously, even a fraudster. There's a chance it may be a deaf person calling to inquire about your ad but most likely not. You could just take the call and ask the person calling to call you back through the "state relay" using their TTY. if you don't feel right about it, my suggestion is to be nice to the relay operator and just hang up each time you receive a relay call.
I have add up everywhere and this guy calls stating he cant speak for him self but wants me to email him about the dog to get it shiped the email address for contact is on the website i posted. basically this is just a scam attempt when you get these calls report them to your police department
This is very similar to what happened to us. IP relay caller wanting a puppy. The same type of response deposit, shipping arangements via courier , etc. We don't ship our pups, someone must take delivery of the puppy. After a couple of days with no response or cantact from the alledged puppy buyer , we contacted the "buyer" that we had sold the puppy and she was no longer available and we questioned the validity of the caller. 10 days later we recieved not one but three money orders via UPS 2 day shipping,,, we attempted to contact the return address and phone number, no answer,,, a few minutes later a call came from the number we had dialed,,, My husband explained that the puppy had a home, and we needed to return the money and ask for an address, he said,(with a very heavy accent)that he knew nothing about the money orders or the puppy. Within five minutes an IP relay call came asking if we had received the package, we were instructed to cash the money orders and take $150 before sending the money on... during the conversation the IP relay supervisor interupted,,, were were given a number to report these call. We have since given the e-mails, IP phone numbers and the money orders over to opur local law enforcement.. They have call in the FBI and the FCC
Hope they can catch these creeps,,,,
I received a relay call from this person at 9:50 pm saying they wanted to information about a puppy well I sell kittens so I told them that and they said that's right kittens could you send me information about them by e-mail and was then interupted and sent to someone saying this phone number had fradulent activity- and to disconnect the call and then they called back- and asked if I got there e-mail address and I asked them to repeat it and what there name was and they hung up I have received 2 different e-mails about kittens and have no idea which one it could be if either? but BEWARE---
I received a call from this number this morning. An operator explained what relay was and how I was to proceed. The callers name was Mark Morrison which I remembered from an email about 2 weeks ago wanting to purchase the portable ac's that I sell. I knew this was a scam two weeks ago and cut the guy loose but was suprised that he tried to call me on our business line through relay.
