Credit card lower interest scam. When I have time to "play" I listen to their pitch, ask questions regarding when the lower interest kicks in, for how long, can't you get lower than that, etc., etc. Finally I ask their charges, which will vary considerably, then I tell them to sign me up. And, oh, you want my credit card number? OK, I kind of hid it from myself to keep me from running up more charges so please hang on and I will look for it. Then just lay the phone down and see how long before they disconnect.
Called at 1238 CDT. Caller ID showed "Consumer Asst." Did not answer. Caller left no message, but I was on a work conference call at the time, so they couldn't leave one if they wanted to.
Two people from this number called threatening my mom that her credit cards would be canceled and she would get a $2000.00 fine assessed to her credit card if she did not provide them with her credit card number. They were very rude and verbally abusive to my elderly mother.
Yep, blocking doesn't help since they call from different phone numbers. Early last week I decided to call back and responded to the recording by pressing 1 to be added to the do not call list. It's been a week and a half ago and the calls stopped.
