Got the same call many of you mentioned. Left a message stating you'll be arrested if you do not call back blah blah. Well for one thing, the area code is 410, which is apparently a MA area code and I live in PA. For another thing, it was a recorded message, not a live person. For a third thing, the called ID said voice network 1. Oh yeah cause that totally seems legit...
I got the same call as Lori stupid people. I think the goverment should crack down on this bull [***] makes me very mad you let these people into our country and they do this dumb [***].

This is (one of many) criminal extortion scams that have been going on for years. Many are operating overseas and out of the reach of US law enforcement, while others are operating within the confines of prison cells here in the US, using contraband cell phones. Others are using VOIP. Either way, they are able to disguise their identities and locations, making them next to impossible to prosecute. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting victims' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
I didn't receive a call from this number, but got a fairly obvious scam email with this number listed. The person told me that I had been involved in a "very serious matter" and that someone had filed a lawsuit against me. Being entirely positive that I have never committed theft or fraud of any kind ever, I knew this email wasn't legitimate. The email was full of typos and generally badly phrased sentences. The signature stamp was from the Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Justice, which was pretty amusing. The annoying thing is that these people are so persistent in their efforts.
