I just received a similar phone call, but from a different number. Was there any additional charges on your phone bill after you pushed one? I just did before I read this column and would like to know if I need to contact my phone provider.
Same as previous entries - called my elderly father and told him to press 1. They said something about a car warranty and an accident with a bus. He thankfully knew not to say or do anything and he just hung up. I tried calling the # and it was constantly busy - obviously a scam of some sort.
Got the call this morning at 10:24 am EST. Same recording of a woman talking about some car warranty and how she's been trying to contact me. I wasn't sure what it was about and have been having to take care of some medical bills over the phone and thought it might have something to do with one of the bills. I clicked 1...and there was silence. Didn't hang up on me but no one said anything.
