I am sure this number is an attorneys office trying to inform me about a long lost relative who has left me a substancial inheritance. Perhaps it is our states lottery commision trying to make me aware of a huge winning ticket amount. Possibly it is Hollywood and they believe that I am that new talent which they are looking for.
Nah, it's probably the SERVICE DEPT, I probably forgot about my car at the dealer or maybe left my vacuum cleaner at the shop a little too long, that's it, right?
Robocall warning that the FBI reports home breakins etc, etc. Pressed 1 to speak to rep. He identified himself as John but I missed his last name. When I inquired again he became very rude and told me to stick it up my [***] and hung up... "John" knew my last name when he answered...
I average just over 1 call per day from these scam alarm companies.
Report all spam calls to the National Do Not Call Registry Complaint AND your state DNC list (if you have one). This is the only way to stop the calls. Asking to be removed simply confirms that they have a working line.
I wanted to comment on your note. This is the first time I've heard of telemarketers plaguing customers about anti-virus software. I know about the alarm companies, because when I owned a home, I reported several to Brinks/Broadview/ADT. Perhaps I should have gone one step farther and gone to the U.S. Attorney or the local police, because I've even had these people show up to my door and I have BRINKS decals all over the downstairs windows, and signs in the yard (the window decals are an excellent deterrent, by the way!).
What I really wanted to say: There's nothing inherently wrong with those from South Asia (India) or Southwest Asia (Middle East). Unfortunately, because so many legitimate companies, including Microsoft, AT&T (Land-based and Wireless), as well as some of the U.S. air carriers have outsourced their customer service centers to these places to save money on labor costs and their governments don't pitch a fit about the ridiculously low wages, we've begun lumping everyone into the same boat. As the old folks might say: "Don't paint everyone with the same paintbrush."
Now I just got a call from this number and I'm sick of these people! I wish there was a way to get Mr. Number on my landline. Or, maybe I'll have my landline converted to cellphone service so I can screen calls better.
