This company is sketchy as it gets. They provided background info from someone else with same name from states I have never even been to. Combined background info from multiple people with same first and last name. Cost me a job and I am currently taking this company to court.
This is a legitimate firm. You filled out an authorization when you applied for the job for them to conduct the background check: Maybe you should have paid some attention.

This company called my cell to check a reference for one of my former employees. They asked several questions about her, which I answered. Then the caller began asking for a landline contact number for me and for MY current employer. I told her that information was irrelevant to the reference and she said she needed it to "verify that I am who I say I am." Sounds sketchy to me.
You're a goon. A landline is needed, because anyone can obtain a cell phone and lie. I could say I was the Queen of England if I wanted. They probably wanted your office number to verify you work for the said company. [***]...

They called yesterday to do a employment verification, which was fine....but today SO FAR, they've called 7 times and there hasn't been ANYONE there
