Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

We received exact same call this morning (Thanksgiving Day) and it was a recording. I did not call back, instead planned to google first an rightly s as there are reviews about this number. It sure is a hoax as I received a similar type of call last year during the holidays. Report to authorities, if you like. I will not lose my sleep on this. Another scam phone number to note is 618-529-9140.
I received a call from this same number this morning. They said that they were the IRS and that I needed to call them back. They stated not to ignore the call. My husband had tried calling them back and no answer. I told him that I thought it was a scam, as I have been hearing it a lot. My husband was all worked up thinking, why would they be calling us.
I tried calling the number myself and it stated that the mail box was full. I got on line to check out irs scamming and sure enough, this number came up. 415-234-9610.
I had talked to my mom, whom is 82, she said if she gets one of these calls, she just going to say, I work for the irs so I will have to look into this...
Thanks to all of your comments.
I called the number back in question but the number given on the voice message was 415-234-9619. So I called both numbers back and the numbers are attached to Magic Jack. The 9619 number said the Magic Jack caller was unavailable to leave a message. I told them to never call my number again and if they did I would report them to the FCC and the Attorney General's Office! This is NOT the IRS and it is a Federal Crime to impersonate a Federal Agency!
