Received a call from a man with a Indian accent who kept asking if I was -- he gave a name. Asked him who he was and where he was calling from and he said his name was Martin and he was calling about BMW car insurance. Hung up. Sounds like a scam.
RECEIVED A CALL AT WORK FROM A GUY I BELIEVE TO BE FROM INDIA.....HE DID NOT KNOW MY LAST NAME BUT HAD MY FIRST NAME - SCARY. SAID HE WAS WITH SOME LAW OFFICE, I JUST HUNG UP
Asked for a person I've never heard of. I told him "There's no one here by that name." He said "Okay, thank you" and hung up. I believe what these are, are list builders. They go down lists of businesses compiling as much data as possible, including what time of day someone answers and what they say, and they hope for the person answering to give them tidbids of information to add to the list, such as names of executives.
Which, once the list has enough data on it, they turn around and sell.
These slimebags called my work, and I didn't even bother to answer the phone because I knew it was some type of scam call. However, they psycho-dialed seven more times within the span of five minutes. Whatever; I let them play their little game while I played mine.
