I had a man call this morning by the name of Ben Williams from 415-376-1480 and said he was going to have the police come to my home and arrest me for a loan that I have never had, I asked him for his info and he hung up on me, I called my Police Department and asked them if any arrest warrant was given out on me and they put me on hold, they checked on it came back negative, I asked them about LA County where he said he was out of and they told me not likely, because they would have to go through my PD first. They said this was was a scam artist and I should report this to the FBI. Also what I found funny is that this man had a strong Arab accent and his name was Ben Williams.
This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:
thanks....but why are they still in operation?? can they really arrest you for something you have no knowledge of? I called my payday loan co. and they said I am ok.
They are still in operation because US authorities have no jurisdiction to shut them down in India. All they are able to do at the moment is prosecute those individuals in the US doing business with them. And, no, they cannot "arrest" you. Debts are civil and not criminal matters.
Calling saying that I owe money from a payday loan which not true . It is illegal ga Keep leaving threating messages . When Icall them to ask what i owe they hang up .So when it told them that Iam aware of the scam scam and that I reported them to the fbi, she said f*** b**** and don't call me anymore .
i got a call from this number. they have been calling me all day. my boyfriend answers my phone and they hung up in his face but when i answer tha guy start to tell me about im going to jail and the police has a warrant for my arrest. this scared the crap out of me. then wen i told them i didnt take no load nd can i talk to some one that speak english he just kept repeating his self. then i said i was going to report him and he hung up. when i try to call back after reading all this post the line was busy. man they need to shut them down or something cuz this is harassment that they are doing. thank you to everyone else that made post on this cuz i was really scared.
